The Langley Events Centre, a collaborative effort between the Township of Langley, Kor Structural, Wally Neumann MQN Architects, and Ventana, exemplifies innovation and community-centric design. This fast-tracked 250,000-square-foot multiplex features an NHL ice surface arena with 5,276 seats, complemented by 24 individual suites and a 2,200-seat triple gymnasium. Incorporating green building design principles, the venue encompasses a field house, dry floor arena, double gymnasium, 800-seat banquet hall, indoor walking track, and meeting rooms. Following extensive consultations with diverse stakeholders, including sports associations and educational institutions, the facility was tailored to meet the varied needs of the community.

The project’s efficient construction timeline, involving concurrent assembly of steel and glulam roof beam components, underscores its commitment to timely delivery. Moreover, advanced refrigeration systems, including heat recovery and subfloor heating, ensure operational sustainability and energy efficiency, setting a benchmark for future multipurpose event centers.

The structure makes use of glulam tied arches with steel bracing and glulam V-columns around the exterior façade, steel roofing and trusses in gymnasium areas, and concrete tiltup panel construction at perimeter walls.
