Jim DesRoches, a Managing Principal of Kor Structural, has designed multiple developments across a variety of building types in both Canada and the United States since 1988, including more than 50 high-rise projects throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and California.
Known for his creative structural solutions, Jim uses his collaborative approach to every problem with an emphasis on client service. With over two decades of experience in Quality Management, Jim also leads the development of Quality Management Policies at Kor Structural.
Jim has also managed the design and construction of numerous Performance Based Design tall high-rise towers in San Diego and Los Angeles, California, including managing the city peer review and plan check process.
Recent Notable projects include: Union & Ash – High-rise Tower San Diego CA, 6th & Olive – residential tower in San Diego CA, 1011 Union – Mixed use Development in San Diego CA, 800 Broadway – Residential Tower in San Diego, 495 Hartford – residential development in Los Angeles CA, 1233 S. Grand – residential tower in Los Angeles CA, and Torino – residential Development in Richmond BC.
After graduating from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor in Civil Engineering in 1988, Jim built a respected reputation at several of the established structural engineering firms in Vancouver. Jim joined the Kor team in 2017 and became a Principal in 2019. He is currently licensed to practice in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Washington.
Outside of the office, Jim enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, skiing, and staying fit.
