NORMAL SCOPE OF FIELD REVIEW (IN GENERAL)

  1. CHECK POSITION OF MAIN STRUCTUREAL ELEMENTS IN GENERAL. DON’T ACTUALLY CHECK LAYOUT
  2. FOOTINGS: CHECK SIZE AND REINFORCING
  3. COLUMNS AND WALLS: CHECK SIZE, REINFORCING, AND CONDUIT AND SLEEVES (AS THEY AFFECT THE STRUCTURE)
  4. SLABS: CHECK SIZES, REINFORCING, CONDUIT, SLEEVES, AND IN-SLAB DUCTS (AS THEY AFFECT THE STRUCTURE); REVIEW CONCRETE PLACING AND CURING
  5. REVIEW COLD AND HOT WEATHER CONCRETE PRACTICES
  6. STRUCTUREAL MASONRY: CHECK REINFORCING AND LATERAL SUPPORT DETAILS
  7. WOOD FRAMING: CHECK MEMBER SIZES, SPACINGS, GRADES, FASTENINGS, AND CONNECTION DETAILS
  8. STRUCTUREAL STEEL: CHECK MEMBER SIZES, SPACINGS, FASTENINGS, ALIGNMENT, AND CONNECTION DETAILS.
  9. GENERAL: DURING DAY TO DAY VISITS, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ANY JACKHAMMERING, CORING, CUTTING, CHAIN-SAWING, OR OTHER SIGNS OF DAMAGE TO THE STRUCTURE
